Theodore Varga was at a conference along with other 4th-grade instructors as he heard the gunfire. He stated someone had switched on the intercom to ensure that “you could hear people at work. Also, a custodian went around, warning people there is someone having a gun, Varga stated.

“He stated, ‘Guys! Get lower! Hide!’” Varga stated. “So he was really quite the hero.” The teacher stated he would never know when the custodian made it.
