Strike is being observed in Kashmir to protest against the verdict of ruling military court. The strike has been called for escaping five military officers who murdered five civilians14 years ago. Including the main city Srinagar, in most of the cities, business is stopped due to strike. No transport is seen in the road.

Muslim leaders have called for protests after Friday prayers. Due to this, a large number of security forces personnel have been deployed in various places in Srinagar. Before that, Hurriyat Conference leader Omar Farooq Mir Owais urged the people in a statement to protest against the verdict of ruling military court.

In 2000, army shot and killed five civilians of Patharibala village of Jammu-Kashmir of India. The Army claimed the deceased as ‘foreign militants, but from the investigation of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), it came out that the deceased were local civilian people. The army has killed them in cold blood However, the heads of the military court acquitted five soldiers, saying they were killed during the raid conducted based on intelligence information. Kashmir human rights organizations and political parties protested the verdict.
