Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh announced to retire after the next general election and said that he would not be a candidate for prime minister for the third time.
In New Delhi, he told a press conference on Friday, “this is the right time to hand over power to the younger generation.” He hopes that they can deal with all the obstacles and show the right path to the country. However, he does not want to resign before the ‘Lokshava’ election. Sonia Gandhi’s decision will be considered as final in this regard.
He considered Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as the most eligible person for the post of Prime Minister. He said, “Rahul has all the qualifications for being the prime minister.” Rahul is doing a very good job. “It will be the right decision if he will be the prime minister.” said Manmohan Singh.
